Coming up Thursday June 6 2013 20:00 "Fusion" The monthly Jazz Discovery Series Rehearsals every Sunday night 21-23:30 in Maccabim Stop by and catch live jazz in the making! |   The JP Big Band, established in 2003, and led by Eli Benacot; is an all-volunteer group of serious jazz musicians based in Modiin, Israel. The ensemble has a book of over 300 numbers from Basie and Ellington to Mintzer and Baylock from swing to funk to hot Latin numbers. What makes the band unique is our book of almost 100 numbers of Israeli standards with wonderful large jazz ensemble arrangements by Eli - Wilenski, Rechter, Moher, Krauss and in 2012, the wonderful program of Brasilian music with words translated into Hebrew by Ehud Manor - ארץ טרופית יפה The band appears regularly with it's girl singers -  Amor Amosi (above), singing with the band in the 2010 Modiin Music Festival with Jobim, Goodwin, Mintzer, Nestico, Stevie Wonder, Duke Ellington and Yoni Rechter.
