The JP Big Band is
a group of serious amateur musicians, teachers and professionals conducted by Eli
Benacot – a world-class musician, big-band conductor and film-score composer
who teaches at the Rimon School of Jazz and Contemporary Music and performs with Yair Dalal. We’re a full jazz big band with 17 musicians (5 saxes, 4 rhythm section, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones). The band was started in April 2003, by two friends - Bob Trachtenberg and Danny Lieberman who had played together in a sax quartet in Jerusalem. By word of mouth, the band got together for it's first rehearsal in a high school in Modiin July 1, 2003. We had no idea what we were getting into. Probably better that way. 100+ charts, 3 bassists, 5 drummers and 6 trumpets later we're still learning - and enjoying every minute. |
